It’s hard to believe how small the pasta sauce market in the UK used to be. Being born in the 80’s I can’t remember a time when there wasn’t a huge selection of pasta sauces readily available to buy. Sacla’s famous pesto were the first to launch such a product in the UK in 1990. And since then they have grown and grown with a large range now available. I’ve long been a fan of Sacla’s products and we always have a pot of pesto in the cupboard. Loving everything about Italy, including the food, I jumped at the chance to head to Covent Garden last week for a night dining with them. It was really interesting to listen to Clare Blampied, Managing Director at Sacla UK, who passionately told us all about Sacla as a brand and the launch of Sacla’s kids love pesto campaign
It’s all about helping families create quick, healthy and tasty dishes that kids will actually eat! Sacla has teamed up with Celebrity chef Rachel Allen for their ‘Kids Love Pesto’ campaign and created, La Famiglia, a newrecipe book which has some lovely ideas in that I can’t wait to try out. Pesto mash or pesto cake anyone? Most of the recipes are ready to serve in just ten minutes, so ideal for busy families!
Sacla put together a lovely event for us all. As soon as I walked up the stairs at Café Murano, I was greeted with a glass of red sparkling wine (amazing) and canapé’s. Then the meal blew me away! Every single dish that we had was absolutely delicious! Starting with Mozzarella, tomato and basil pesto followed by trofie pasta & Sacla’ Chilli Pesto, whole sea bream, peperonata and Spring greens. Dessert was muscovado tart and raspberries, I can’t even describe how good it was!
Since getting home the kids have enjoyed a pesto tuna pasta meal and I made myself a dish, with the Fiery Tomato Pesto, and chopped baby plum tomatoes. So simple, quick and delicious!
