Treworgey Cottages Cornwall, Our #ParentPanel entry

I think Cornwall is such a beautiful place to visit. I have been going there on holiday since a small child and it is well worth the long drive from central England. When the sun is shining you can’t beat it as a family friendly holiday destination. However, this is England and as we all know weather is one thing you can’t guarantee. You shouldn’t let it put you off holidaying in Cornwall though. Some of my favourite memories from childhood are sitting on the beach in a big warm puddle , watching the clouds move away from the sun. I used to think my Dad was magic and that he was making the clouds move and the sun come out. I have since gone on to do this with my children.

When I’m looking at booking a holiday in this country I want somewhere that offers more than just a bed. It needs to be family friendly and have extra facilities to keep my children occupied for good and bad weather. As a parent you want a holiday that is going to be stress free and having somewhere that can occupy your kids in bad weather at no extra cost would take away the unpredictable weather stress. We are a family with two boys, 7 and 4 and a baby so we need to holiday somewhere parent and child friendly. Treworgey Cottages looks ideal for this. Their facilities are fantastic.

An outdoor heated pool which both the boys and Ava would love. An extra benefit to us is that there is also a separate toddler pool which would be great for Ava this summer when she is crawling. I can imagine us all soaking up the sun and looking out at the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. How relaxing would that be? There is a playpen to keep babies safe meaning me and James could have a swim at the same time. The Summer house that is right next to the pool has floats you can use, changing facilities (great for parents with babies and small children), toilet (fantastic as you won’t have to keep traipsing back and forward with the kids to the loo) and even better, ice creams with an honesty box. I can imagine it’s like having a pool in your garden, with everything you need close by.

On wet days, if you have any, you won’t wake up thinking, what am I going to do with the kids today? At Treworgey there is an indoor playroom with a selection of toys, table tennis and pool. Then this is the bit that excites me; there’s also a sandy ‘indoor beach’. No upset kids that can’t go to the beach in the rain, instead you can build sandcastles, play volleyball and badminton undercover.

Need the kids to burn off some energy? Outside there’s a playground with swings, slide, climbing frame, sandpit and wendy house. A perfect mix for children of all ages. Then there is the rest of the farm’s 150 acres of land to explore and run around in too. Imagine that much safe space for your children to explore and play in. I know my boys would absolutely love being able to run through the fields, build dens in the woods and picnic by the steam. Treworgey also has its own all-weather hard surface tennis court (with rackets and balls available to borrow) so no excuses.

For other all weather activities there are opportunities to help feed the resident pigs, sheep, goats, horses, ducks, chickens and guinea fowl. The boys would love to be able to do this and be able to find and collect the eggs in the morning. I hear there are also Tractor rides! The boys have never been horse riding and they would be able to visit the horse riding school at Treworgey for one of their Pony Club afternoons. They also offer lessons and supervised hacking through the local area which would give me the chance to have a go at something that I have always wanted to do.

If all of these activities keeping your kids happy and therefore you happy aren’t enough then read on for the extra parent friendly features.

Every beautiful cottage at Treworgey comes with its own private garden equipped for the summer months with good quality garden furniture. This is my favourite feature and perfect for families as you can eat alfresco, enjoy a glass of wine and know that your children have plenty of safe outdoor space to enjoy that is within close range allowing you to relax. There’s free Wifi throughout and for those travelling with smaller children and babies, cots and high chairs can be borrowed on request.

Tired yourself and the kids out with all the activities and fancy a night off from cooking? You can organise the delivery of home-cooked family meals most days. Forgotten to get something from the shops? don’t panic! There’s also a local produce stall in Treworgey’s information room with vegetables, meat, jams, chutneys and other items available for you to purchase.

If you’d like to spend an evening of adult only company in the nearby village pub (within walking distance) babysitting can be arranged. Want to unwind even more? then a personal therapist can be booked to visit you in the comfort of your cottage.

I think that Treworgey Luxury Cottages in Cornwall is definitely a family and parent friendly place to stay. My boys dreams would come true here. Looe is a part of Cornwall that I haven’t explored much and it looks a beautiful place I would love to be able to take my children to.

This video clip sums up what the boys think!
