Aveeno products Review

If you haven’t already heard of Aveeno and you or a member of your family suffer from dry skin or eczema, you need to check it out. I have always suffered with dry skin and eczema. I tend to get patches in the winter and especially when I’m stressed. I had a couple of patches on my hand and finger that just weren’t budging, even with steroid creams. I was moaning about it in the staff room and my friend recommended the Aveeno hand cream. I was very sceptical, how could it work when steroids weren’t? I was willing to try anything to get rid of the sore itchy patches. I went and bought some of the hand cream, making sure it contained the colloidal oatmeal as I had been told this was the vital ingredient. I was amazed when in less than a week my patches had started to clear up. This was last winter and I have used the hand cream since and have had no new patches.I can’t remember the last winter that I haven’t suffered, so this is a huge improvement for me.

Having only used the handcream, I was excited when I was contacted to try some more of the Aveeno range. My skin has been very dry all over since having my baby girl 12 weeks ago and has been feeling very tight and sensitive. I’ve been using the Aveeno lotion after showering and bathing and the change in my skin is huge. It was feeling and looking all scaly and it’s not perfect yet, but it looks and feels a lot better. After a wash my skin feels tight and putting the lotion and cream on is instant relief. I’ve been using the Aveeno cream on dry patches on my face which it has cleared up. For a moisturising wash, Ive been using the Aveeno bath oil.

The other great thing about Aveeno products is that I can use them on the whole family. My baby girl is 12 weeks old and has recently started to develop small patches of dry/sore skin on her legs. We already use non bio, unperfumed everything on her and so she needs something more to help. I’ve had no worries in using Aveeno products on her, even being so little, as I know how natural and great they are. (Aveeno products are recommended for use from 3 months) I’m hoping that they will help her too as I’ve already noticed an improvement. Both the boys have dry skin and will get patches, although they don’t suffer as much now they are older. My youngest boy (just 4) actually loves putting cream on, I think as it has been part of his routine for so long. They have also always seen me put cream on after a shower and in the mornings which I think has helped normalise it for them.

Aveeno have produced a fab book after carrying out some research (YouGov AVEENO(r) Skin Stories Study, 2014) into the difficulties that mums face when managing their child’s dry eczema-prone skin.

*48% of surveyed mums agree that their child does not enjoy their emollient routine (n=367)
*46% of mums stated that their child doesn’t like using creams or lotions (n=595)
*And 51% of mums say that they would find advice on how to develop an enjoyable dry, eczema-prone skin routine helpful (n=614)

I did sometimes struggle in the early days, think naked toddler running away from you as you are trying to put their cream on, or screaming ‘no’ after you thought you had calmed them down in the bath. I read Ellie and Eddie with Finlay, it’s a great story that children will be able to relate to. Finlay wanted a bath and to put cream on after reading it with me. If you would like a free downlaod of the book Ellie and Eddie click the link.

I’ve been using Aveeno for just over a decade now and am fully evangelical about the stuff. I don’t know a single person who hasn’t seen a marked improvement for using it!
Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested this week x

I can’t recommend Aveeno enough. I am using it on my son since the age of 3 months twice a day. He is 28 months now and we are still using it. Must consider getting the book.. #TriedandTested

We use Aveeno a lot – my youngest has eczema and this is pretty much the only range he can tolerate. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
