Celebrate Your Mamma with ASK Italian This Mother’s Day

I love Italy, it’s my favourite place and not just for their Aperol Spritz! I love the food, the culture and the beauty of it. So when ASK Italian invited us to come and eat like an Italian, to sample their Mother’s Day Menu, we were only too pleased to oblige. In Italy, family time is celebrated all year round by gathering around the table together to enjoy a family lunch and so ASK Italian is inviting you to get together and do the same this Mother’s Day.

If you visit ASK, you will notice that all their Restaurants will have Mimosa bouquets, why? Well the story goes that the act of giving out mimosa flowers began in Rome, on March 8th 1946 at the end of World war II. Chosen for it’s bright colour and seasonality at this time of year, men gave the flower to the women in their lives as a sign of love and appreciation.

Nowadays on International Women’s Day Italian women also hand the flowers to other women as a sign of solidarity. With International Women’s Day falling so close to Mother’s Day this year, ASK are adopting the symbolic Mimosa flower. During the week running up to Mothers Day, all women will be celebrated.

Mothers Day is a chance for families to get together and celebrate their Mamma

ASK Italian are offering customers 3 courses and a glass of Prosecco for £19.95 with their Mother’s Day set menu. The kids aren’t left out with their own menu, 3 courses and a Babyccino for £6.95. They will also be given a Mother’s Day card to decorate and keep them entertained at the table.

Plus ASK are giving customers £10 off their next bill!

ASK ITALIAN MOTHER’S DAY MENU 2018

The Mother’s Day menu is a chance to try some of the colourful new additions to the ASK Spring Menu, including one Pizza from their new range of Prima Lights. A pizza on a light base accompanied by a beautiful rainbow salad that comes in at under 550 calories

It was this base and pizza that we all got to have a go at making with chef Theo Randall. The base is delicious, made with semolina to make it crispy, just like they do in Italy. We also learnt that the Pomodoro sauce is from brothers Girorgio and Gilberto Breci in Emilia Romanga, Northern Italy where they have been canning tomatoes since the 1900’s. And if you opt for the signature Purpil Basil Pesto Genovese, it is topped with an edible purple flower and purple Basil that has been especially grown for ASK on a family run farm in Verona.

It was lovely to meet Theo Randall, to hear how passionate he is about Italy and about the process of creating new menus with ASK. Ava was pretty impressed with him too and couldn’t wait to start making her pizza.

“I love Italian food for its simplicity. Italian cooking is about bringing out the flavour of the ingredients as much as possible. When it comes to food sometimes less is more.

I now visit Italy at least 6 or 7 times a year. I visit my suppliers as well as favourite and new restaurants.

At ASK Italian, we’ve worked hard and put in thousands of hours in the kitchen to create an authentic Italian experience. I think it shows in the atmosphere, the sense of style and the Italian spirit that’s present in the restaurants. And, of course, it’s there most of all in the food”

We had a lovely family meal and all left felling rather full, but happy. Thank you for having us ASK, we will definitely be returning. Hopefully on Mother’s Day, as I’ve been dreaming about the Carbonara!
